Digital Experience Package Generator

[what] Arduino is a manufacturer of microcontroller boards. The design system for its packaging is personalized based on a buyer’s preference and the specifications of the model they choose.

[who] Prototypers building DIY inventions with the board have another code to crack. Their inputs inform visual motifs of the packaging outside, paralleling the tech-toy-tinker nature inside.

[how] The open-source company’s “thinking with our hands” philosophy inspired an open-source generator for people to make their own, such that no two will ever be the same.

[why] Arduino’s existing packaging displays an illustration of the board itself—a space that can be reimagined to be more communicative of the brand’s playfulness.

The main design visualizes the number of digital pins and weight (in grams) specific to each board so no two will ever be the same.

Die-lines communicate additional information including a legend and a use case for each given model to let buyers know what project the board is best suited for.
